To whom it may concern,
I have recently had a change in travel plans and will be arriving in Vietnam approx a week prior to my original entry date. My visa issued in Australia states it is valid from the 28/01/2015, however I now have a flight into Hanoi arriving on the 22nd.
How do I go about extending this date? Or do I need to be issued with a new visa, if so, is it possible to do this online or in Bangkok (staying 2 nights prior to flying to Hanoi).

Regarding to your case, you are required to obtain a new visa if your arrival date is 22nd Jan 2015. Your last visa can not be extended or apply at Bangkok because this is on weekend, Vietnam Embassy does not work.
